On TV Tonight: Sunday, November 10

Standard

Need your fix of drama before you head back to work tomorrow? Here are my recommendations for what to watch tonight.

Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo, 8pm EST) – The drama continues as NeNe texts Apollo, Porsha moves in with her mom and Kenya tries to fight being evicted.

The Walking Dead (AMC, 9pm EST) – Let’s face it. It’s not looking good for most of the people at the prison. If you want to find out who survives this week, you’d better watch it tonight before you hear about it on Facebook.

Talking Dead (AMC, 10pm EST) – AMC says the guests tonight are Adam Savage and Breckin Meyer but if you watched Talking Dead last week, you know Chris Hardwick said there will be a surprise guest. Usually, a surprise guest means someone didn’t make it through Walking Dead this week. Just saying. Set your DVRs.

Watch What Happens Live (Bravo, 11pm EST) – If you want the inside scoop about what goes down on tonight’s RHOA, there’s no better source than Andy Cohen. Tonight’s guests are Porsha and Nelly.

Comic Book Men (AMC, 12am EST) – Need to decompress after Walking Dead? Check out this show. It’s funny, nerdy and often has famous guests pop by the shop. This week, a Mr. T water game comes into the shop. It’s okay to admit you’re a little curious.

Movies to Check Out on Netflix This Weekend

Standard

Staying home tonight or just need some lazy Saturday viewing ideas? Check out what’s newly streaming on Netflix and some classics you might want to check out again.

Flight – Did you see the commercials and wondered how or why Denzel Washington landed a plane that was upside down but you didn’t care enough to pay $10.50 to find out? Now you can.

Olympus Has Fallen – Of the two White House attack movies released this year, this is the one with Gerard Butler and not Channing Tatum.

Sharknado – Syfy’s summer sensation is yours to watch and rewatch, with friends, snacks and probably a lot of booze. The acting is amazingly bad but if you ever wanted to see Ian Ziering chainsaw through a shark from the inside, consider your wish granted.

Safe Haven – Looking for some romantic drama this weekend? Try this one with Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough.

The Hunger Games – With Catching Fire coming out soon, this would be a great time to rewatch and refresh your memory.

Zoolander – I don’t care how many times you’ve seen this in the past 12 years, it’s time to watch it again. But just remember, it’s merman, Dad. Merman!

Boondock Saints – Having trouble surviving the six days between Daryl fixes on Walking Dead? Fill the gap with guns, accents and badassery. And Norman Reedus, of course.

Christmas Vacation – I know it’s not even Thanksgiving yet but it’s pretty much always time to watch this classic. At the very least, check out the animated opening credits (remember how that was a thing in the 90s?) with the grumpy reindeer and the Christmas Vacation theme song.

Find something else worth checking out on Netflix streaming? Let me know!

Don’t know what to watch tonight? Here are my top recommendations for Thursday.

The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 8pm EST) – Professor Proton is back! Bob Newhart reprises his Emmy award winning role as Professor Proton, childhood hero of Leonard and Sheldon. But wait. There’s more. After Leonard gets Professor Proton’s help with an experiment, Sheldon befriends Bill Nye, arch-nemesis of Professor Proton. All this episode is missing is Beakman from Beakman’s World. Seriously, don’t miss this one.

The Crazy Ones (CBS, 9pm EST) – Josh Groban guest stars as a former co-worker of Sydney’s (Sarah Michelle Gellar), who has written a song about her. This show is a gem. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should check it out. PS – I’m writing this while Mrs. Doubtfire is on.

What are you watching tonight?

Maggie Siff’s Sons of Anarchy Lullaby

Standard

Have you been wondering what that beautiful, haunting song was at the end of last night’s Sons of Anarchy? You know, the one with the line, “May you stay in the arms of the angels”? Wonder no more. The song is Lullaby For a Soldier, sung by SoA‘s own Maggie Siff.

Listen to it again now:

Still can’t get enough? If you pre-order Songs of Anarchy: Volume 3 from iTunes, you can have the song now. The album will be available December 3rd. Judging from how great the music has been this season, you’ll probably want to put this on your holiday wish list.

FX Networks

Wondering what to watch tonight? Here are my Wednesday recommendations.

Criminal Minds (CBS, 9pm EST) – The team deals with a killer that strangles victims and keeps some sort of memento from each one. This sounds like it has the potential to be pretty gross.

Law and Order: SVU (NBC, 9pm EST) – Tony Award winner Billy Porter (star of Kinky Boots on Broadway) guest stars in an episode about a 4 year old that accuses Porter’s character of sexual abuse. Billy Porter is a phenomenal actor so this episode is a must-see.

American Horror Story: Coven (FX, 10pm EST) – Tonight’s episode is going to have a lot going on. We’ve got the undead that surrounded the school last week and Fiona and Myrtle fighting for control of the coven. Zoe also learns a new power. The episode is called Burn, Witch. Burn! so something is definitely going to go down.

South Park (Comedy Central, 10pm EST) – The description says, “When Cartman pulls a prank, peace emerges around the world.” If this doesn’t make you want to check this one out, I don’t know what will.

FYI, Modern Family is not on this week, due to the CMA Awards on ABC.

In this week’s episode, the Colonel, a German Shepherd, is the only witness to the murder of his taxidermist owner, who was snapped in half by a reptiled tongued man in a cowboy hat (Steve Valentine, Nigel on Crossing Jordan). Sam and Dean investigate the murder with a lot of help from man’s best friend.
