Looking to mix up your Christmas watching a bit? Try out these great Christmas TV episodes.

Malcolm in the Middle
Christmas (season 3, episode 7) – Fed up with the boys ruining everything, Lois cancels Christmas until the boys prove they can behave. This upsets Hal, who very much loves Christmas. Cloris Leachman won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy for this episode.

Christmas Trees (season 5, episode 7) – Hal is laid off before Christmas and decides to sell Christmas trees with the boys. Meanwhile, Lois and her team at Lucky Aide hunt down a possibly rabid squirrel.

Frasier
Frasier Grinch (season 3, episode 9) – Frasier and Niles hit the mall to find educational toys for Frasier’s son, despite Martin advising him the hot toy that year is the Outlaw Laser Robo Geek.

Many more below, including Supernatural, How I Met Your Mother, Buffy and Robert Downey Jr.

Mary Christmas (season 8, episode 8) – Frasier’s dream of co-hosting the Seattle Christmas parade finally comes true. At the last minute, the usual host is replaced by bubbly Dr. Mary, who won’t keep to Frasier’s carefully planned script.

Supernatural
A Very Supernatural Christmas (season 3, episode 8) – Sam and Dean look into a bunch of murders where victims were taken through their chimneys. It’s definitely a Christmas episode, with a Winchester twist. If you haven’t seen Sam and Dean sing their version of Silent Night to a drunk Santa in awhile, I highly recommend giving it a rewatch.

How I Met Your Mother
How Lily Stole Christmas (season 2, episode 11) – After hearing Ted call her a grinch (but not that word) on an old voicemail, an angry Lily takes all of the Christmas decorations out of the apartment. Also, Barney is sick as a dog and says the classic line, “Whenever I start feeling sick, I just stop being sick and be awesome instead. True story.”

False Positive (season 6, episode 12) – Lily and Marshall’s pregnancy test causes the whole group to reexamine their lives at Christmastime.

Symphony of Illumination (season 7, episode 12) – Robin is late and goes to the doctor to find out if she’s pregnant. Elsewhere, a paternal Marshall lets a neighborhood boy help him with Christmas decorations to disastrous results. Note: Robin is the narrator for this episode and don’t miss the AC/DC light show at the end.

Ally McBeal
Tis The Season (season 4, episode 6) – Pump the brakes on the snark. Now, longtime Ally fans know there are a bunch of Christmas themed episodes, especially in season 4. In this episode however, Ally’s boyfriend, Larry (super foxy Robert Downey Jr.), confides he hates Christmas because he’s away from his son. Still, you can see the man sing twice in this one. Cheat sheet: the gorgeous and heartbreaking River at 23 minutes and 08 seconds in and White Christmas at 42 minutes 06 seconds.

Love on Holiday (season 4, episode 7) – The episode starts with Downey singing Springsteen’s Sherry Darling. If you adore him, it’s not to be missed, seriously.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Amends (season 3, episode 10) – It’s the holiday season in Sunnydale and Angel is tormented by his past. Also, Willow and Oz spend the holiday together. This episode is a classic with fans.
